Broadhead Showdown
We used 4 different compound bows and one long bow to test 3 mechanical and 3 fixed blade broadheads see what we came up with:
Rage: Pros: Best flying, little to no tuning, out of box performance, nice wound channel good for the treestand, they make practice heads Cons: pricey, rattle make a lot of noise , open while stalking, open in quiver not very good at quatering shot, cannot shoot through any kind of brush or grass
Swhacker: Pros: 2nd best in accuracy , little to no tuning, out of box performance, nice wound channel, good at quartering shots, stay closed in quiver and on stalks Cons: , Stupid rubber bands, no practice heads available, cannot shoot through brush.
T3: Pros: Good Flying, great blood trails Cons:No practice broadheadfs offered, open all the time, terrible for stalking cant shoot through brush or grass at all
Crimson Talon: Pros: you shoot something with this even marginal shots its dying, priced right, can shoot through brush and grass without deflection, with slower bows shot real well The LX shot them like field points, you can practice with them and reuse. great for stalking Cons: fast bows need to tune to broadhead
Slick Trick Pros: Very easy on the wallet, very tough, great penetration, very good blood trails great for stalking, the long bow loved it Cons: plane a lot with faster bows, need to tune to broadhead and not shoot field points,
Montec G5: Pros: Very tough, the long bow loved it ,great penetration, very good blood trails, great for stalking Cons: plane a lot with faster bows, need to tune to broadhead and not shoot field points, they whistle when shot alerting game
Im sorry we had very nice chart that I could not figure out how to paste into the blog so the summery will have to do. happy hunting!
The g5s never whistle I have a pse brute x shot a nice 10 point buck last fall with them without the other bucks even realizing what happened. They fall a bit but mybe an inch at 25yds but are very accurate and deadly if you hit vitals there dead. Rage broadheads ive had shit luck they dont open all the time when you make short shots and have a tendancy to not pass through with slower bows
