2017 Hunting Sock Review/ Hiking Sock review
So I have been doing a review of socks over the last few years I’m constantly buying new ones to see what works better, feels, better and stays in place! I have really bad feet problems I have been plagued with Plantar Fasciitis for more than half my life stemming from an inability to get full flexion out of my ankle. I don’t have a normal gait when I walk and even after a couple surgeries and years of PT I still suffer a great deal… yada yada yada.. Anyway my feet get beat up when I hike and socks have a tendency to move easily on me and I get bad calluses etc. So I am very picky and particular about my socks and boots, if they can work for me they can work for you.
The Following socks were my top performing out of the 18 different brands and types I have owned in the last 5 years but you may be surprised on who my favorite one is and why I only use them now. So with further a due My Hunting sock review 2017/ Hiking sock review 2017
The Players: the top 7 Best hiking / hunitng socks
Darn Tough Men’s ATC Micro Crew Cushion Socks $21.50
REI Co-op Coolmax Midweight Hiking Crew Socks $13.95
Smartwool PHD Medium Crew Socks
Bridgedale Merino Summit Hiking Sock – Men’s
Kuiu ULTRA Merino Crew Sock $29.99
GORE premium hunting socks $28.00
Adidas Men’s Climalite X II Crew Sock $7.00
The top Three:
Kuiu: Kuiu is known for manufacturing some of the best hunting clothing for mountain hunters out there so it was no surprise they scored high on my list. They have a really nice feel to them that doesn’t irritate your skin and you can easily wear them for a few days in a row if need be. But at $29 a pair I don’t need to pay for the logo
Gore: They had a real nice feel to them were excellent in temp control and wicking moister… Badass pretty much sums it up but again at $28.00 a pair they performed very well but don’t need to pay for the name brand.
Honestly You cant go wrong with any of the top 3 scoring socks in my opinion but bang for the buck tips the scales for me. The Adidas Climate X 2 with Traxion felt great on the feet, they stayed in place better than any of the other socks, the synthetic material wicked better than any of the other sock ( I guess being born out of soccer they know how to deal with sweaty feet) they were great with temp regulation, they held their form through many many washes, and I haven’t worn out a set yet. But who cares when you can buy 4 pairs for the price of one of the competition. These socks have become my go to for all my mountain hunts… I wish they would make a heavy version of these for my late season hunts.
